The Movement: Sunday Afternoon Shop ‘N Sip for a Cause




Be a part of “The Movement,” an afternoon of unity and shopping for a cause



The West Town neighborhood of Chicago will soon be buzzing with some of Chicago’s best fashion designers and entrepreneurs. “The Movement” is a Sip ‘n Shop Event where shoppers can browse and shop from the latest selections of  local African-American clothing designers, while raising awareness about Black social and economic power as consumers.


The event will take place Sunday, April 12, from 3pm – 8pm, at Society Art Gallery, located at 1455 West Hubbard. Shoppers are encouraged to network, buy, and experience more thantwo-dozenlocal fashion and food vendors.


Music will be provided by Chicago native and nationally known DJ Jay Illa. Creator of “The Movement,” andbrand-enthusiast,Bobby Burke, also a Chicago native says he’s excited to bring another successful event to his hometown: “A movement is continuous, and something that’s constantly evolving,” he said. “The Movement” was designed to collectively provide a platform with entrepreneurs who share common values. The potential is endless, and one of gratifying success.”


At each quarterly Movement event, a new nonprofit organization is selected to receive a portion of proceeds from ticket sales. To further support our community, a portion of ticket sales will benefit Generation Moms. Generation Moms (GM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing poverty in disadvantaged families by deeply investing in thepost-secondaryeducation of teen mothers.

WHAT: An afternoon Shop ‘N Sip featuring some of Chicago’s Best Fashion Designers all under one roof, to network and shop for a cause. More than two-dozen local Fashion and Food vendors will be in attendance.

WHY: To promote the urban and emerging Chicago fashion community, and also raise awareness for a local non-profit, Generation Moms. A portion of tickets sales will be donated to the organization that helps with the betterment of Teen Mothers living in Chicago.
